Michael Colavita

Michael Colavita is a choral conductor, composer, performer, and educator currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting at the University of Miami. His work spans academic, professional, and community music-making, with a focus on fostering artistry, precision, and connection through choral performance. In addition to his doctoral studies, he directs the high school choral program at Miami Arts Charter School and serves as Director of Music Ministry at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Palmetto Bay.
Colavita holds bachelor’s degrees in Music and Neuroscience from Washington and Lee University and master’s degrees in Choral Conducting and Music Education from the University of Louisville. His previous roles include directing the Singing Cardsmen at the University of Louisville and leading the choral program at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville. He has performed with and conducted choirs in the United States and abroad, including in Korea, Sweden, Ireland, Thailand, and at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
