Prelude

Prelude is MCC's youngest ensemble for children grades K-2. In this ensemble, children will begin to develop their musical skills through singing and movement activities. They are introduced to the basics of rhythm, pitch-matching, call-and-repeat, and memorization. No audition is required to join.

Each week, singers are guided by one professional director, two teaching assistants / graduate students of music education, a live pianist, and a rehearsal coordinator. The ensemble is further supported by a director of operations and an executive artistic director.

To ensure the most attentive care & instruction, this ensemble is capped at 16 singers. Enrollment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Aside from the one hour/week rehearsal commitment, our littlest singers participate in approximately three to four performances per season. These include our two major concerts (in mid-December and early May, respectively), and smaller “singalong” style events throughout the school year. When they are not performing, choristers and their families are always invited and encouraged to attend the concerts performed by the older ensembles!

Rehearsals: Saturdays 9:00-10:00 am 

at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables.

Tuition: $100 registration + $400 annual tuition.

Prelude enrollment for the 2026-2027 season is open.

Family orientation is August 29, 2026, and the first rehearsal will be held September 12, 2026.
