Sonata

Sonata is a mixed chorus for singers from 9th grade to age 22. In this group, members are ready to experience and demonstrate the highest level of musicianship and performance standards. The repertoire includes complex multi-part works, newly commissioned compositions, works for chorus + chamber orchestra and other instrumental groupings.

Each week, singers are guided by one professional director, two teaching assistants / graduate students of music education, a live pianist, and a rehearsal coordinator. The ensemble is further supported by a director of operations and an executive artistic director.

Aside from the one hour/week rehearsal commitment, Sonata singers participate in approximately six to eight performances per season. These include our two major concerts (in mid-December and early May, respectively), private contracted events, choral festivals, and public community concerts across South Florida.

Rehearsals: Saturdays 11:30am -2:00pm

at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables.

Tuition: $100 registration + $800 annual tuition.

Auditions are required - slots are open for the 2026-2027 season.

Family orientation is August 29, 2026, and the first rehearsal will be held September 12, 2026.
