Miami Children’s Chorus

 

Reports to: Executive Artistic Director
Supervises: Singers age 5-7
Work Schedule: 
- Saturday Rehearsals 
- 3-5 hrs/week planning, administration, and communication
- Extra rehearsals, performances, and additional artistic planning meetings as scheduled.

 


 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Conducting and rehearsal leadership

  • Conduct weekly rehearsals.

  • Prepare choristers musically and artistically for all performances and events.

  • Create engaging, age-appropriate rehearsal experiences that support musical growth, skill development, and a healthy ensemble culture.

  • Maintain high artistic standards while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

  • Conduct performances and represent the organization professionally at concerts and events.

  • Conduct rehearsals and performances of other ensembles as needed in the absence of their conductor.


Chorister development and evaluation

  • Support chorister growth through ongoing assessment and feedback.

  • Assist with auditions, placement evaluations, and ensemble assignments as needed.

  • Monitor progress and communicate concerns, successes, and recommendations to the Executive Artistic Director.

  • Support chorister retention through positive relationships with students and families.


Artistic planning

  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director on repertoire selection and artistic planning.

  • Assist in developing seasonal goals, curriculum, and educational objectives.

  • Participate in artistic staff meetings and planning sessions as requested.

  • Support the implementation of organization-wide artistic initiatives and special projects.


Professionalism and communication

  • Maintain consistent, timely communication with the Artistic Director and administrative staff.

  • Respond to emails, messages, and requests within a reasonable timeframe.

  • Communicate proactively regarding scheduling conflicts, absences, student concerns, and other issues that may affect the work of the organization.

  • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and accountability in all organizational communications.


Season Performances

  • A season calendar will be made available.
